7 Adoptable Pups Ready for Their Close Up on National Pet Day

Published:

Your social media feeds are bound to be extra furry, feathery or finned today. That’s because it’s National Pet Day. It’s a day to celebrate the “joy pets bring to our lives,” according to the National Pet Day website. What’s more joyful than scrolling through your Instagram feed and finding an adorable video of a dog seeing its reflection in the mirror for the first time?

Aside from giving pet lovers the opportunity to show their companions some love online, National Pet Day also aims to create public awareness about “the plight of many different kinds of animals awaiting a forever home in shelters and rescues all around the globe,” according to its website.

With that in mind, I and Love and You, a Boulder, Colo.-based manufacturer of raw pet food, teamed up with several pet rescues in Colorado to help adoptable pets find their forever homes by pampering seven pups with full-service grooming and glamour shots. Many of the dogs came from high-kill shelters and have been living in foster homes for upward of six months to a year, according to I and Love and You officials.

“I and Love and You knows all about the mutual love between pets and people, which is why we have teamed up with four rescues in our hometown to help some deserving pups find their forever home,” said Lindsey Rabaut, vice president of marketing at I and Love and You.

The photo shoot aimed to showcase how each dog is special in its own way, and accessories, like flower collars, bow ties and bandanas, helped the pups express themselves and show off their personalities to potential adopters.

Take a look at the glammed up pups in our gallery below, and enjoy National Pet Day!
