APPA Announces Pet Industry Young Professionals Group
The American Pet Products Association has announced a newly formed group, the APPA Young Professionals (YPs)—the pet industry’s first-ever young professionals organization.
The mission of the APPA YPs is to promote career path development of young professionals in the pet industry through networking opportunities, according to the Greenwich, Conn.-based organization.
Spearheaded by Sarah Bopp, APPA associate manager, booth sales and operations, and Kaitlin Simonfay, APPA associate manager, association operations, the APPA YPs officially will debut at Global Pet Expo 2016, in Orlando, Fla. The group will co-host a breakfast during the show alongside the APPA Professional Women’s Network (PWN).
“The purpose of the APPA Young Professionals is to provide support to the future leaders in the pet industry,” Bopp said. “Upon entering this industry, I, along with some of my colleagues, recognized a need for an organization that would attract and engage young professionals.”
“With more young people entering the industry, we expect continued growth and support for the group in the coming year,” Simonfay said. “We are excited to officially launch at Global Pet Expo 2016 and look forward to providing additional networking opportunities in the future.”
The PWN and Young Professional’s breakfast will be open to all registered Global Pet Expo attendees.
