Beco Pets Names Pet Product Innovations Master U.S. Distributor
A “green” alliance has been forged between Chicago and the U.K., with London-based Beco Pets, a manufacturer of eco-friendly pet products, launching a major sales and distribution deal with Pet Product Innovations of Chicago.
Beco Pets is an environmentally conscious company that makes pet products using bamboo shards, rice husks, shredded plastic soda bottles and 100 percent natural rubber.
Pet Product Innovations, founded by serial entrepreneur David Levy, a 19-year veteran of the U.S. pet industry and the founder of pet supply firm Zeus & Co., has been signed as Beco Pets’ master distributor in the U.S.
Beco Pets also has partnerships with distributors Animal Supply Co., Pet Food Experts, Frontier Distributing and Rio Grande.
“Our product range covers all four main life activities of dogs and cats: ‘fetch,’ ‘eat,’ ‘poop’ and ‘sleep’; in other words, toys, bowls, poop bags and beds,” said Beco Pets co-founder George Bramble. “Our dog and cat bowls are made from bamboo fibers taken from off-cuts when chopsticks are made, and our Beco Beds contain stuffing made from recycled plastic soda bottles.
“We are also bringing to the U.S. a new range of eco-friendly toys, including the brand-new Beco Flyer, a flying disk dog toy that whizzes through the air to the delight of its canine catchers,” he said.
“At first, I didn’t know whether our distributors and retailers were ready for what Beco Pets had to offer,” Levy said. “I went with my instinct—I decided to bring Beco to the U.S. because what they offer is unique, has a great style, in look and feel—and that’s only the surface.
“Look deeper, and you’ll discover what they do is good for the earth and pets, because they choose to use renewable resources and natural rubber,” he added. “Having worked and run my own distribution business, specializing in natural and eco-friendly products, I was amazed and impressed at Beco’s eco-credentials and the high quality of their products.”
