Beyond Green Wins Award for Plastic Alternatives
“We are so honored to receive this award that recognizes my dream to replace all single-use plastics, along with all of the hard work that our employees have made to move from our garage to where we are now,” said Veejay Patel, founder and CEO of Beyond Green, which is headquartered in Lake Forest, Calif.
The People & Planet Award recognizes U.S. small businesses for their dedication to a green economy: a bottom line that includes protecting workers, communities and the environment, according to officials from Green America, a nonprofit group in Washington D.C. that sponsors the award. Twice each year, Green America awards two $5,000 cash prizes in a range of green business categories, such as zero-waste, worker empowerment and sustainable food.
“[Beyond Green] has been able to provide consumers with quality-controlled pet waste bags and dispensers along with its cutting-edge composters to aid in environmental and social goals and needs,” said Green America officials. “BioDOGradable’s mission is to prevent plastic pollution by providing products which are an alternative to plastics while reducing the current global plastic pollution by working with non-profits to help fund plastic pollution clean-up movements.”
Beyond Green will use the funding to apply toward its marketing efforts, including educating the consumer base on the importance of using products made of plastic alternatives, company officials said.
The next People & Planet Award cycle will begin in Fall 2019.
