CIPS Launches Ornamental Fish Competition to Celebrate 20-Year Anniversary

Published:

Now ranked as Asia’s No. 1 pet and aquarium trade show, China International Pet Show (CIPS) will celebrate its 20-year anniversary with a major move: launching the CIPS Global Ornamental Fish Championship.

“When GIE started CIPS in 1997, our goal was to gather the small factories in China, guide them to start international trade, and build China into a global pet and aquarium products producing center,” said Yang Cheng, president of China Great Wall International Exhibition Co. Ltd. (GIE), CIPS’ organizer. “In the first decade, CIPS achieved this goal. In the next decade, we realize that China is growing into a major consuming market. CIPS’ goal in the second decade is to educate our exhibitors on the potential and requirements of the China market. Facts have proven that our sharp perspective had brought huge benefits to our clients. We will celebrate our 20-year anniversary in 2016. Our third 10-year plan will focus on promoting the breeding and farming technologies in this industry.

“One major move is to start CIPS Global Ornamental Fish Championship,” she continued. “We are confident that in three to five years, this event will become the top competition in the world. Breeding will motivate the industry and lead utility designs and production to the next level.”

The CIPS Championship consists of nine competitions: Betta, Guppy, Crystal Shrimp, Color Koi, Flower Horn, Goldfish, Discus, Stingray and Dragon Fish. Visitors will see 2,000-plus tanks onsite.

The championship is organized by China Fisheries Association and GIE. More than 50 international associations and clubs have joined the project, and it involves more than 100 judges/experts and nine professional teams.

CIPS 2016, which will take place Nov. 10-13, has already signed on close to 500 aquatic exhibitors, a record number. Professionals from more than 80 countries will get together at CIPS. The consumer-targeted Petday China will be held in the same facility Nov. 12-14, and CIPS organizers expect this to positively impact CIPS.

In addition to the CIPS Ornamental Fish Championship, the event will include:

  • Global PETS Forum Asia (co-organized with PETS International)
  • International Ornamental Fish Seminar (co-organized with Ornamental Fish International)
  • Pet Leaders Dialogue
  • New Products Show
  • Business Match Meeting
