Clear Conscience Pet Launches New Formulas for SuperGravy Line
Clear Conscience Pet recently launched new formulas for SuperGravy, a line of pet food toppers. The enhanced SuperGravy line will give retailers a new tool to help address growing concerns about dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), according to company officials.
The new formulas are designed to provide three-way digestive health support—probiotics, prebiotics and digestive enzymes—along with added taurine to support carnivore health, officials added.
“No supplement, including taurine, is a substitute for a balanced diet high in clean and digestible meat protein,” said Anthony Bennie, founder and chief nutritional officer of the Cape Coral, Fla.-based company. “DCM is a complex illness, and taurine deficiency has not been proven as a direct cause, nor has taurine supplementation been proven to prevent or cure DCM. But our new high potency digestive health blend and taurine are safe and sensible boosters for carnivore health that will be conveniently supplied with a daily scoop of palatable SuperGravy mix, and at a remarkable value of less than 60-cents per serving.”
Among the SuperGravy introductions are Tri-Gestive Microbiome Support and Taurine Supplementation. Tri-Gestive is a proprietary blend that combines the key elements to support a healthy microbiome, including probiotics, prebiotics and digestive enzymes, according to company officials.
“A healthy microbiome contributes to making all pet foods more digestible, with increased bioavailability and absorption of critical nutrients,” officials said. “This helps provide ‘insurance’ from nutrient deficiencies and maximizes the benefits of any pet diet.”
Since taurine deficiency has been associated with DCM, officials said, all three of its SuperGravy formulas will now provide supplemental taurine.
“Low levels of taurine have been observed in some dogs affected by DCM, so it has been suggested that feeding a diet with higher levels of meat along with supplemental taurine and digestive health agents that increase nutrient absorption and bioavailability can all contribute to a sensible strategy for decreased risk of DCM,” officials said.
The new SuperGravy line also features refreshed branding and new packaging.
Co-founder Amanda Malone Bennie assured current customers that the taste their dogs have grown to love won’t change.
“The recipes still contain our blend of delicious dried whole superfoods, but now we have taken SuperGravy to a higher level of purposefulness with these breakthroughs,” she said. “These are truly mixers that matter.”
