Dogtopia to Add Daycare Centers in Oregon
Dogtopia, in partnership with Orangetheory Fitness operator Jamie Weeks, has plans to develop 15 Dogtopia daycare center locations in the Portland, Ore., metropolitan area. The news follows the company’s “successful” end to the first quarter with comparable same-store sales in excess of 22 percent and the sale of 74 new dog daycare centers, according to Dogtopia officials.
“We are thrilled that Jamie has joined the Dogtopia family,” said Neil Gill, CEO of Dogtopia. “His decision to become part of Dogtopia’s success story lends great credibility and showcases the level of support and sophistication that the team and Dogtopia network deliver. I feel we’ve reached a tipping point by attracting a growing number of experienced multi-unit operators who are aligned with our vision—to enhance the joy of pet parenthood and enable dogs to positively change our world.”
Weeks is the CEO of Honors Holdings LLC, which owns and operates Orangetheory Fitness studios globally. Honors Holdings LLC currently owns more than 60 studios in the United States and the United Kingdom. Weeks will remain an operator with Orangetheory, while adding the dog daycare company to his portfolio. Weeks is also the CEO and founder of Legacy Franchise Partners, which specializes in investing, developing and consulting with franchises around the world.
“When doing our due diligence across dozens of brands for Legacy Franchise Partners’ first investment, Dogtopia was clearly the perfect fit for us and we found there was no other brand in the pet industry who could compare,” said Weeks, who is a part-time resident of Portland and an investor in the Portland community. “Between the momentum of the sector and the support that is provided by the Dogtopia family, this is a partnership that we are very excited about.”
