Earth Animal Launches “Ask Our Vet Wellness Series”
Earth Animal has launched “Ask Our Vet Wellness Series,” a weekly interactive and educational Facebook live stream Q&A forum focused on animal health and wellness. The series, which takes place every Friday, will be led by Dr. Kris Hansen, a member of the Earth Animal veterinary team and owner of Ash Creek Veterinary Hospital in Bridgeport, Conn.
The first stream event, “COVID-19 and Your Pet, which can be found here, took place March 25.
“COVID-19 brought uncertainty and unease,” said Stephanie Volo, chief marketing officer for Earth Animal in Southport, Conn. “Everyone’s life as they knew it was changing and resources were diminishing. We knew we needed to connect with our community to offer support during their struggles. Dr. Kris is a wealth of knowledge. His expertise is incredibly valuable for all families with animals. He shares it with compassion and empathy, which is why each week his audience has grown.”
One of Earth Animal’s main goals for the series is to “bring the people of the world a bit closer.”
“My role as a veterinarian, especially during this time, is to be a resource and provide knowledge, support and accurate information,” Dr. Hansen said. “I am so fortunate to work at Earth Animal and have this chance to interact with so many people and to provide them with the answers and comfort they need.”
An additional goal is to bring awareness to the importance of shopping at local pet supply stores, both now and in the future, officials said. Using the live streaming series as a platform, Earth Animal works with one of their retailers throughout the week to cross-promote both the “Ask Our Vet Wellness” series and the store. At the end of the live streaming event, Earth Animal gives away one $50 gift card per store to their customer who calls first. To date, “Spot’s Spotlight,” as the initiative is called, has highlighted All Pets Considered in Greensboro, N.C. and Pawtrero in San Francisco.
“Ask Our Vet was in the works before the COVID-19 hit,” said Michael Cody, director of marketing for Earth Animal. “As we shifted our efforts to put more strength behind our support of the indies, we decided to leverage the audience of Ask Our Vet to promote local shopping in a fun and informative way.”
