Inaugural Pet Connections Expo Draws Pet Industry Attendees to Pennsylvania
More than 700 pet industry buyers and suppliers from the mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions, as well as the entire country, gathered for the inaugural Pet Connections Expo Oct. 3-4 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pa.
In addition to the exhibition, which included 120 exhibitors, the event offered an educational program featuring an esteemed group of speakers, led by Susan Thixton, pet food consumer advocate, author of TruthAboutPetFood.com and participant of the documentary, “Pet Fooled,” which debuted on Netflix in January. Thixton had standing room only for her opening presentation that was followed by other visionaries including Dr. Richard Patton, global scientist and field researcher; Pam Johnson Bennett, author and host of the Nat Geo Wild/Animal Planet U.K. show, “Psycho Kitty”; Bill Bookout of the National Animal Supplement Council; and others.
In addition, campfire sessions were conducted on the show floor and focused on topics of high importance to small retailers, including Aging Pets, The ‘Whole Body Approach’ to Keep your Clients Coming Back and How to Find and Retain the Best Employees.
“We strived to make Pet Connections Expo the Fall event in an underserved geographic market and the feedback that we received is that we succeeded in doing so,” said Bill Doherty, president ICDevents, which hosted the event. “We look forward to growing and providing a rewarding opportunity for our attendees to build community in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions for years to come.”
