Intergroom Shows Continued Growth

More than 2,800 groomers attended Intergroom in April, making it the third largest grooming show in the world, according to show producer Barkleigh Productions Inc. Intergroom, sponsored by Margate, N.J.-based Groomers Helper, featured more than 120 vendor booths, a new record for the show.

Grooming competitions awarded more than $50,000 in prizes and products from various vendors. New this year was the Wahl Rising Star Mentor Challenge, a competition for intermediate and entry level competitors. For the first time, groomers had the ability to get critiques and advice while in the ring competing.

Tag, You’re It Team Challenge, where a team of three groomers work side by side, also made its debut. Other competitions included the World’s Best Individual Groomer, sponsored by Andis of Sturtevant, Wis., and the Wag’n Tails Creative Challenge.

Barkleigh Productions of Mechanicsburg, Pa., produces eight industry trade shows, including Groom Expo, Groom Expo West, Pet Boarding & Daycare Expo, The All American Grooming Show, among others.

Next year’s Intergroom will take place April 2-5 at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, N.J.
