JustFoodForDogs Offers Help to Pet Owners Following Hill's Recall
In wake of Hill’s Pet Nutrition’s voluntarily recall of its Hill's Prescription Diet canned foods from a prescription dog food brand, JustFoodForDogs (JFFD) has decided to step in to help pet owners.
On average, one pet food recall occurs every six days; however, prescription pet food recalls are very rare, according to company officials.
JFFD offers veterinary support diets that correspond to many of the recalled prescription diets, officials added. To help pet owners affected by the recall, the company is welcoming pet owners to bring in their recalled food for a free sample of the corresponding JFFD veterinary support diet food. After the first sample, JFFD can work directly with customers’ veterinarians to create a prescription plan for ongoing orders.
“As one of only a few companies that offer therapeutic veterinary directed diets for dogs, we know we are in a position to help these pets. Patients who are already experiencing health issues requiring a therapeutic diet are the most susceptible and delicate cases affected by this recall and need an immediate solution or alternative,” said Dr. Oscar Chavez, chief medical officer of JustFoodForDogs in Irvine, Calif.
The company is also inviting pet owners to call the JFFD hotline at (855) 44-DogRx to speak with a certified nutrition consultant, who will then reach out to their vet to verify the prescription and get the appropriate vet support diet sent.
“We have 10 veterinarians as well as a strong team of veterinary trained Nutrition Consultants on staff who can be a resource for concerned pet parents and will work directly with their own veterinarian to direct them to the right diet made from fresh, whole-food ingredients and nutritionally balanced for their dog’s specific health need,” Chavez said.
In addition, JFFD is offering free shipping on first time vet support diet orders of $75 or more.
