Lucy Pet to Make Waves at California Pet Specialty Retailer's Anniversary Celebration
Lucy Pet will help a California pet retailer celebrate its 40th anniversary with its “Ford-Powered” Gnarly Crankin' K9 Wave Maker, the worlds largest portable wave machine. The wave machine will make an appearance at Red Barn Feed in Tarzana, Calif. on Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event marks Red Barn’s 40th anniversary and will feature a live radio broadcast of “The Pet Show” featuring celebrity host Warren Eckstein.
The Lucy Pet Gnarly Crankin' K9 Wave Maker was the centerpiece of Lucy Pet’s 2017 record-setting Rose Parade float powered by Ford, and many of the same dogs who appeared in the parade will be showing off their skills at the Red Barn event. Two new additions include Macho the balloon popping terrier and Ricky the rescue cat, who surfs with best friend Coppertone the dachshund. Dogs who attend the event will be invited to test their abilities on the waves.
Officer Dan Casson of the Oxnard Police Department and his K9 partner “Jax,” who is prominently featured on the side of the Ford Super Duty pickup that tows Lucy Pet’s generator, will also be making an appearance.
“It takes a big generator to power a 5,000 gallon wave maker,” said Joey Herrick, president and founder of Lucy Pet Products in Westlake Village, Calif. “And we chose a Ford Super Duty to do the job. It is one of several Ford vehicles that we depend on when we tour with the wave maker.”
