PIJAC Small Animal Care Committee to Hold Meeting on Standards of Care at SuperZoo
The Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council’s Small Animal Care Committee will meet during SuperZoo on Aug. 2 at 3:00 p.m. in the Mariner A conference room of the Mandalay Bay Conference Center in Las Vegas.
At this town hall-style gathering, PIJAC will present a proposed outline for new industry-wide standards of care for public input and feedback. Please plan to attend this important meeting and make your voice heard.
There is no healthy pet industry without healthy pets of all types. In accordance with PIJAC’s mission to promote animal well-being and ensure the availability of pets, the Small Animal Care Committee will work to create universal standards of care for small animals. Working with colleagues in the industry, committee members will review existing animal care best practices and draft a standards document that is applicable to all breeders, collectors, distributors and retailers of small animals including birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and small mammals. These standards will be a resource to both businesses and responsible pet owners, but their success is dependent on industry input.
