Pet Brands Hold Court at TTPM Media Showcase
A group of pet product manufacturers were on hand for a holiday media showcase on Sept. 26 held in New York by TTPM, a product review company that focuses on the toy, entertainment and pet categories. TTPM also unveiled the winners of its 2017 Pet Product Awards including brands such as Jackson Galaxy’s cat toys by Petmate and the RhinoPlay dog toy collection by goDog and Worldwise.
More than 250 members of the press, analysts, bloggers, YouTube channels and social influencers gathered for the event where 70 family-friendly exhibitors showcased the hottest holiday products of the season, deemed by TTPM’s team of reviewers, who feature product video reviews of hundreds of pet toys, gear and tech products from the pet industry’s leading manufacturers.
While toys and entertainment products took center stage on the show floor, the TTPM Pet Shop featured 14 pet product manufacturers, including 4 Paws Tech/4 Paws Butcher Shop, Buddy Belts, gosh! Pets, Gramercy Products, Hagen Group, International Veterinary Sciences (IVS), K-9 Sport Sack, Up Country, Petmate, Poochieboots, Pura Naturals Pet, Rubie’s Costume Company, True Dogs and Worldwise.
“There are synergies between toy consumers and pet owners,” said Ara Bochalian, CEO of IVS, a division of Anaheim, Calif.-based Animal Nutrition Inc. “There is a similar dynamic between the family-oriented mother and pet owners.”
As such, many of the pet product exhibitors took advantage of the opportunity make new connections, particularly outside of the pet industry.
“The pet industry knows about us, and we’re here trying to tell our story,” said Julie Creed, vice president of sales and marketing for Seattle-based Pura Naturals Pet.
Several manufacturers agreed that sharing brand stories with consumer media during an event like TTPM’s Holiday Media Showcase would ultimately mean more business for its retail partners.
“We like to invest in brands, and we believe in the power of brands,” said Sarah Stone, director of marketing for Novato, Calif.-based Worldwise. “Anything we can do to market our brands will help our retailers.”
Damian Hall, marketing communications manager at Mansfield, Mass.-based The Hagen Group, concurred.
“An event like this is our first line of promoting our products,” he said. “We’re speaking directly to influencers in an effort to spread our message to a wider audience, in addition to telling them where to buy the products.”
Media attendees were also able to see many of the products working in action. A pet fashion show featured some of social media’s popular #DogsofInstagram modeling pet couture, gear and Halloween costumes.
Pets attendees were provided with refreshments courtesy of the Pet Product News refreshment station, which featured water bowls, treats and treat jars provided by Loving Pets; Quick Bath Wipes provided by IVS; and 4 Paws Butcher Shop treats.
TTPM also announced the winners of its 2017 Pet Product Awards in six categories.
