Pet Fair Asia Reports Attendance Increase for 2017 Show
The 20th Pet Fair Asia, which was held Aug. 24 to 27 at Shanghai New International Expo Center in Shanghai, experienced increased attendance pet professionals from all over the world. With eight halls and 950 exhibitors, the exhibition welcomed 33,275 trade visitors to the show, a 24.05 percent increase over 2016, including 3,864 from overseas, a 11.29 percent increase over the 2016 show.
According to show organizers 81.7 of visitors declared attending for purchasing purposes and 95.8 percent attended to learn about new products.
International brands were omnipresent on site, at their distributor stands and through standalone corporate booths or national pavilions. Adding to Asian buyers already well represented at the show, including South-Korea, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the 2017 show witnessed a rapid increase of visitors from emerging markets, in particular from Vietnam, Philippines, Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Chinese companies have rapidly grown to a new level in terms of branding and geographic business outreach. According to show organizers, 77.6 percent exhibitors declared doing business both in China and overseas, 13.2 percent exclusively outbound and 9.2 percent locally.
The show featured a variety of events, including: the seventh International Pet Industry Summit, the sixth Petfood Forum China, the fourth Annual Meeting for Pet Hospital Management, the 10th Shanghai Veterinary Conference and second Seminar on pet and aquarium retail convergence.
In 2018, Pet Fair Asia will be co-located with Aquarama, the international exhibition for aquarium and terrarium supplies, ornamental fish and reptiles, garden and pond products. The two events will gather 1,400 exhibitors in 10 halls, with 40,000 professionals and 110,000 consumers expected.
Pet Fair Asia 2018 will be held Aug. 22 to 26 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.
