Petco Moves to Cut 180 Jobs
Petco is cutting 180 positions from its workforce, with about 50 of those cuts coming from its San Diego headquarters, according to the pet supply retailer.
The company made the cuts across its workforce and include both existing and open positions.
Petco has about 650 workers at its headquarters in Rancho Bernardo, Calif., and employs 27,000 in the U.S.
“The changes announced this week are focused on creating a better optimized workforce and result in the elimination of 180 open and existing positions across the company,” said a company statement provided by spokeswoman Lisa Stark. “By consolidating certain functions and activities, we are simplifying and prioritizing key areas of our business in order to continue investing in growth opportunities that lie ahead for Petco.”
