For the third consecutive year, the expanded exhibit hall floor was a sellout and featured more than 40 additional booths in 2016, while still maintaining a waiting list of 20 companies that will be vying for spaces on the 2017 floor, according to Petfood Industry magazine.

Many top global pet food manufacturers, co-packers and retailers with their own brands attended the event, including Big Heart Pet Brands, Blue Buffalo, CJ Foods, Cargill, Champion Pet Foods, Diamond Pet Foods, Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Mars Petcare, Merrick, Nestlé Purina, Petco, Petsmart, Royal Canin, Wellpet LLC and Zuke’s.

Due to its growth, Petfood Forum received increased attention from the media, including Kansas City NBC 41 News (affiliate station KSHB) coverage, as well as editorial features by the Kansas City Business Journal and Pet Product News.

The Petfood Innovation Workshop also broke attendance records this year; the sold-out Petfood Innovation Workshop: Meat & Novel Proteins was hosted at the Kansas State University-Olathe Food Innovation Accelerator Lab. An additional workshop at the Petfood Innovation Workshop & K-State Pet Food Experience will take place in Manhattan, Kan., on Sept. 14-15, and will will feature an updated program focused on the functionality, sustainability and safety challenges pet food businesses face in creating successful high impact meat and novel protein products.

“With pet food professionals representing over 40 countries, Petfood Forum has established itself as the largest conference and exhibition serving the global pet food industry, and something people absolutely do not want to miss,” said Debbie Phillips Donaldson, editor-in-chief of Petfood Industry. “Every year expectations are higher, and we will strive to make Petfood Forum 2017 even bigger and better.”
