More than 80 companies around the world had applied to be one of the six finalists for Leap Venture Studios’ Leap Pet Project pitch competition, which took place in late August at SuperZoo in Las Vegas. Primal Health LLC not only won a spot, but also took top honors by receiving the $15,000 grand prize for its new dental care product, Teef!
“We’re honored to be recognized as an innovation leader in the pet care industry; there are so many exciting new start-ups in pet, and we are excited that dental health is at the forefront,” said Emily Stein, Ph.D., CEO of Primal Health in Minneapolis.
Unlike other dental products, Teef! works below the gum line to target the root cause of disease, according to company officials. Teef!’s patented formula, Protektin, is “powered by science that’s been clinically proven to stop bacteria from causing dental disease in both humans (tested for 8 years) and dogs (tested for 4 years),” officials said.
Leap Ventures was founded by Michelson Found Animals and Kinship, a division of Mars Pet Care, as a way to support the latest innovations in the pet industry.
