Scenthound Brings on New Chief Financial Officer and Chief Vet

Published:

Scenthound, a membership-based dog grooming business that began franchising in 2019, has added Donald H. Noble as its chief financial officer and James MacLean, DVM, as its chief veterinarian. The move, according to company officials, is to prep for its “highly anticipated expansion.”

Noble comes to Scenthound with 15-plus years of c-suite experience. He has helped more than 30 companies start, thrive, raise capital and execute strategic directions, officials said. He has worked for both franchisees and franchisors throughout his career.

“As a dog lover, the brand itself piqued my interest, but [CEO] Tim Vogel is the reason I had to join the team,” Noble said. “He is a visionary and the brand is poised for extreme growth under his leadership. There is nothing like it in the industry, and I believe that, with our strengthening team, we are about to take the industry by storm.”

Dr. MacLean has 26 years of veterinary experience as well as a background in running and selling pet hospitals. As chief veterinarian, MacLean “will help strengthen Scenthound’s already-revolutionary grooming strategy and advise their staff from a health and medicine perspective.”

“Scenthound is a rare find,” MacLean said. “They’re more than just grooming, and I think what they’re doing in terms of dog preventative care has so much potential to disrupt the pet health industry. It is already such a well-run business and you can tell everyone on board—from the ‘scent techs’ all the way to the executives—truly believe in this business and want to change dogs’ lives.”

Scenthound, building upon the word “scent,” according to officials, focuses on the five core areas of maintenance: skin, coat, ears, nails and teeth. The “scent techs” are trained to give dogs the care that breeds requires, not just a haircut, officials said. The membership program allows dog owners to “have the peace of mind that their furry friends are cared for on a routine basis,” officials added.

“This is an exciting time for Scenthound as we continue to build up our team of amazing leaders who will help us on our expansion journey,” Vogel said. “I have no doubt that both Don and James will do incredible jobs in providing the foundation we need for growth and help us accomplish our goal of helping as many dogs as we can.”
