TailsSpin’s Community Support Helps Savannah School Win National Blue Ribbon Award
Savannah, Ga.-based TailsSpin Pet Food & Accessories, a Bentley’s Pet Stuff company, has been a proud active business partner and a school council member of Jacob G. Smith Elementary School for the past six years. TailsSpin’s ongoing community support is one of the criteria that contributed to Jacob G. Smith Elementary being chosen as a 2016 National Blue Ribbon Award winner.
National Blue Ribbon Schools are on the cutting edge of education, pioneering innovative educational practices from professional learning communities and project-based learning to social and emotional learning and positive behavior systems. Schools are nominated by the state department of education and then complete a comprehensive application about school practices. Schools may be nominated as Exemplary High Performing—among the top schools in a state—or Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing—schools making the fastest progress in their state in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.
“Jacob G. Smith has been able to rely on TailsSpin’s ongoing support for creating a community that has a mission to better our children’s education,” said Vernon Cole, principal of Jacob G. Smith Elementary. “We have a close relationship that goes beyond fundraising. Their active participation as a school council member, as well as being a business partner, contributes to the betterment of our student body.”
“It’s about taking care of your family, whether two or four legged,” said Giovanni Senafe, co-owner of Bentley’s Pet Stuff, a multistore retailer and the parent company of TailsSpin Pet Food & Accessories.
“We continually are so humbled and honored to be a part of Jacob G. Smith Elementary’s recognition,” said Jeffrey Allen Manley, co-owner of TailsSpin.
