WPA to Promote Sustainability at SuperZoo

The World Pet Association (WPA) is working toward supporting retailers, brands and manufacturers in the industry’s pursuit in sustainability by investing in the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC). The effort will be showcased at SuperZoo, which is scheduled for Aug. 20-22 in Las Vegas.

The PSC was founded with the aim to advance businesses through profitable environmental and social business practices. It now supports about 100 pet companies.

The WPA and PSC’s sustainability initiatives to be showcased at SuperZoo include:

·       Sustainable education session for retailers—The PSC will provide a retailer education session, titled “Critical Sustainability Strategies for Retailers,” that will focus on a recent shift in consumer demand and willingness to pay for values-aligned companies and products.

·       Mandalay Bay sustainability tour—A back-of-house tour will give attendees an opportunity to view the waste sorting processes and a birds-eye view of the Mandalay Bay solar system.

·       The positive impact product kiosk #5000—SuperZoo will premiere a show-floor display showcasing verified products of brands actively measuring and improving their environmental and social impact using PSC’s third party sustainability assessment. 

·       Reduction of single-use water bottles and water refill stations—WPA will offer water refill stations located at the show floor lounges and will provide more than 2,000 reusable plant-based water bottles.

This is just the beginning of WPA’s leadership when it comes to responsible environmental and social business practices for the industry, said PSC officials.
