WPA’s Aquatic Experience – Chicago Includes Original Sea Lion Experience
The only traveling sea lion experience in the country, Sea Lion Splash, is among the family-friendly exhibits at the World Pet Association’s (WPA) fourth annual Aquatic Experience – Chicago, scheduled for Nov. 4-6. Show attendees will be able to interact with sea lions up-close, as well as enjoy other programs including Fish from Around the World displays of exotic fish, a touch tank with sharks and starfish, a Win a Betta Fish ball toss game, a Kid’s Aquarium Contest and “everything aquatic under one roof” at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center in Schaumburg, Ill., according to the WPA.
Sea Lion Splash, sponsored by Aqueon/Coralife/Kent, offers guests of all ages an up-close experience with sea lions as they learn about these amazing mammals during a 30-minute program hosted by trainer Surfer Joe.
This year’s Aquatic Experience will host two aquatic competitions for advanced hobbyists to share their skills with the public: the 1st International Shrimp Competition, sponsored by Dennerle, JBJ Transworld Aquatic, ShrimpKing and the WPA, and the third annual Aquascaping Live! Contest, sanctioned and presented by the Aquatic Gardeners Association and sponsored by Fluval. Throughout the weekend, aquatic experts will host educational seminars on hobbyist and retail topics.
Daily family passes cost $25 and individual tickets start at $10. Children ages 5 and under are free. Kid’s Aquarium Contest registration for children ages 5-16 is $5 and includes a 10-gallon aquarium kit, plus a wristband for free admission to the show floor with a paying adult.
