World Pet Association Launches Social Media Campaign
Following the success of last year’s Good Works social media contest, World Pet Association (WPA), the producers of SuperZoo, a North American pet retail trade exposition and conference, will run the contest once again in 2017. The winners will be announced during SuperZoo 2017, which will return to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, July 25 to 27 (with conference sessions July 24 to 26) and will receive a prize of $1,000 donated to a charity of their choice. This year WPA will also offer a second place prize of $500 and a third place prize of $250, again in the form of donations to the charities of the winners’ choice.
To enter, contestants should post a photograph on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram of their pet business doing ‘Good Works’ for their community, tagging SuperZoo and using the hashtag #WPAGoodWorks. The contest will launch June 12 and run through July 12.
“The theme for SuperZoo 2017 is ‘Better Together,’ and what better way to illustrate this than showcasing business owners in our industry going above and beyond and performing good works in their communities,” said Doug Poindexter, president of WPA. “Last year, the Good Works contest provided a wealth of heartwarming stories that reinforced the value of the pet industry to local communities. We hope this year’s entries will take inspiration from some of those submissions.”
The contest rules are:
- All entries must tag SuperZoo and use #WPAGoodWorks in the post
- Must be posted by July 12 at 11:59 p.m. (PST)
- Entering companies must be businesses in the pet industry
- First, second and third placed winners must be attending or exhibiting at SuperZoo to win
- First, second and third placed winners will be notified via social media prior to SuperZoo to choose their charity
Building on its more than 65-year history of helping pet retailers and service professionals discover new products, learn how to build their business and connect with others who share their passion, SuperZoo has grown from a small, regional event to one of the most productive gatherings and positive trade shows of the year. SuperZoo’s theme for 2017 — ‘Better Together’ — reflects the inclusive nature of an event that welcomes everyone from independent retailers to groomers to international and corporate buyers.
In addition to a bustling trade show floor, SuperZoo offers attendees more than 80 education sessions covering a wide variety of topics including: staff training, human resources, leadership, social media, and customer service and marketing, among others. Grooming and service industry sessions are geared toward building your business and animal wellness sessions focus on small animal care in stores and best practices for birds and reptiles.
