Atlanta Pet Fair Changes Owners
The World Pet Association has added the Atlanta Pet Fair to its collection of shows that includes SuperZoo and the Aquatic Experience.
The Atlanta Pet Fair, which is advertised as hosting the world’s largest grooming competition, was acquired from its current producer, McPaw Inc. of Tucker, Ga. Terms of the transaction were not announced.
“It is our hope that we can continue the legacy started by Ann Stafford and produce a show to encourage the grooming industry,” World Pet Association President Doug Poindexter said Thursday.
The 2014 Atlanta Pet Fair, which is open only to groomers and other pet industry professionals, is taking place this weekend under McPaw at the Hilton Atlanta Airport hotel. The fair includes a trade show featuring dozens of exhibitors.
The WPA will produce the show starting in 2015.
The Monrovia, Calif.-based WPA also organizes America’s Family Pet Expo, an annual event held in Costa Mesa, Calif. The WPA hosts the SuperZoo pet industry trade show each year in Las Vegas and last November produced the inaugural Aquatic Experience fish show in suburban Chicago.
The organization this week also announced a $25,000 donation to the Coral Restoration Foundation, becoming a corporate Patch Reef-level sponsor. The foundation works to restore corals in the Florida Keys and Caribbean.
The money will be used to grow staghorn coral and transplant nursery-raised colonies to White Bank reef near Key Largo, Fla., the WPA reported.
“It is our hope that our support will be very conspicuous to those who visit White Bank, while making a lasting impact on the fish and invertebrate life there,” Poindexter said.
The WPA will present a $25,000 check to the Coral Restoration Foundation on March 12 at Global Pet Expo in Orlando, Fla.
