PIDA And APPA To Co-Sponsor New Industry Event

PIDA and APPA are joining forces to co-sponsor the 1st Annual Pet Industry Management Conference & Supplier Trade Show.

The Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA) on Jan. 27 at its 2015 Management Conference & 47th Annual Meeting unveiled a new joint industry event: the 1st Annual Pet Industry Management Conference & Supplier Trade Show.

The event will be co-sponsored by PIDA and the American Pet Products Association (APPA), and will take place Jan. 18-21, 2016, at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Ariz.

At the conclusion of this year’s management conference’s keynote presentations, Steve King, president of Abington, Md.-based PIDA was joined at the podium by Bob Vetere, president and CEO of Greenwich, Conn.-based APPA, Scott Rath and Jim Heim of Walnut, Calif.-based Central Garden & Pet Co., and Perry Parks of Wolverton, a division of Phillips, in Lansing, Mich., to represent the coalition.

“The PIDA management conference has been an institution in the pet industry for 47 years, bringing manufacturers and distributors together,” King said, adding that PIDA and APPA allied more than 10 years ago to create Global Pet Expo. “It has become the world’s largest annual pet industry trade show; this year we will see 1,000 more booths than the first show in 2005.”

“PIDA and APPA are pleased to announce that we are joining forces once again to co-sponsor the 1st Annual Pet Industry Management Conference & Supplier Trade Show,” he added.

According to King, the intent is to combine the best elements of the PIDA management conference with the scope and size of APPA in addition to world-class speakers, more executive conferences and a table-top trade show joining manufacturers, distributors and suppliers, such as packaging companies, truck leasing companies, software providers and others.

“We want to call on [members] to help create an event that helps serve [their] needs and helps improve [their] businesses,” King concluded. “We want to make the Pet Industry Management Conference & Supplier Trade Show the pet industry’s premier event for manufacturers and distributors.”
