Oaks Feed and Pet Supply--Pet Supplies and Animal Feed Retailer, does dog grooming as well
Toledo, Ohio
How’s business going?
Business has been good. We lost some competition here [in Toledo, Ohio], so it’s been good. So, for us it’s been good. . We’ve been here 75 years now, too, it’s our three-quarters of a century anniversary.
Any Trends in your business?
Mostly foods, and stuff like that that’s selling the best. We deal mainly with foods. I do a few treats and odds and ends and stuff. The foods are selling.
Any Brands that are doing well?
Yeah, my Natura line is really taking off. It’s probably my best food in the store. Second is Canidae. Origins is doing extremely well, too.I only sell top-of-the-line dog foods.
Anything new?
No real new promotions. I added a new groomer. I have another lady coming in, starting next week.
Any uptick in grooming demand?
A few other places have stopped grooming, so we’ve got new customers coming in. We do over 1,200 dogs a year.
Do you sell livestock?
No pets. We just do feed and pet items. We do sell baby poultry, ducks, turkey, geese, in March through the end of June. --EM

Amanda Beaty, Owner
How’s business?
It’s been great, actually. Through the winter, the sales have stayed up—which was great—through the holidays, and even in the early months of the year, so there was no after-the-holidays slump.
What’s new?
We bring in new products, but we’re offering the same things that we normally do, just expanding the product lines.
I’ve got new lines and new displays coming in. I’m always trying to keep things changing so that it’s not the same thing every time somebody walks in.
One thing that I’m bringing in more of is the Sherpa Go Dog Toys. I’m always looking for plush toys. We have a lot of big dogs in this neighborhood. --KI
