Welcome to the Winter/Spring 2008 Pet Product News International Industry Directory and Buying Guide.
 
We are pleased to bring you the most comprehensive, up-to-date listings of manufacturers, distributors, breeders and organizations and more than 36,000 products and services.

This issue features in-depth reports on the outlook for pet food, pet supplies and pet services in the industry. Three articles were written by Pet Product News International’s regular contributor David Lummis, who is the lead pet market analyst for Packaged Facts, a division of MarketResearch.com. David discusses the Pet Food Market Outlook for 2008 on page 12, the Pet Supplies Market Outlook on page 6 and the Pet Services Market Outlook for 2008 on page 18.

Brian L. Beaulieu, executive director of the Institute for Trend Research in Concord, N.H., has written The Economy and the Pet Industry on page 22, where he discusses the relationship between the pet food industry and the overall economy, as measured by gross domestic product.

Check out our Corporate Scorecard on page 25, which gives updated information about the pet holdings for those corporations exceeding $1 billion in sales, compiled by PPNI news director Brian Hutchins.

Some of you may have noticed that we did not publish the coveted “Red Book of Pet Store Management” guide that usually comes out in September. We have decided instead to fold some of its content into the December issue of Pet Product News International magazine. In December’s issue of PPNI, you will find management-related stories, such as POS systems, POPs and signage, and the marketplaces are also all business-focused.
