Companion Habitats Critter Condos is a modular habitat designed to allow retailers to arrange and rearrange a livestock display however they please. Standard features include ultraviolet and basking lights, an air exhaust system, wheels and lockable cages. What we like about this product, which may be used to display reptiles, birds or small animals, is that it allows for diversity and creativity. Retailers can select from three cage sizes and oodles of design options. The cages are also available for separate purchase, which is great for retailers who need a place for quarantine or breeding.

Aqueon The Aqueon Aquarium Water Changer, complete with an 11-inch gravel tube with built-in water-flow control valve, an easy-grip molded handle, a water-flow sink attachment with adjustable splash-reducing guard, a multiconnection faucet adaptor and 25 feet or 50 feet of flexible gray tubing, is designed to help hobbyists easily vacuum gravel and replenish aquarium water. Our tester, who has a 30-gallon aquarium and has tried other water-changing products, praises its design, particularly the valve assembly. “It feels sturdier than those of its competitors, and was very easy to attach to my faucet,” he says. No more transporting containers of water to and from the kitchen sink? You have our vote.

CPremier Pet Products The Kool Dogz Ice Treat Maker is designed to entertain, hydrate and treat a dog. When fully assembled, it suspends treats in a long-lasting block of ice, which is anchored to a base in the yard so it stays clean. It also has a water reservoir to collect water as it melts, and a reusable and freezable bucket with lid. When presented with the product for review, our tester was intrigued. “I wasn’t sure it would appeal to my indoor dog but even with temperatures in the 70s, it surprised me by entertaining Mickey and her cousin Molly,” she says. “They could see some of the goodies through the ice and kept after them. And the competition made it a game for them.” We think this product is super for the outdoor dog on a hot day, and much more inventive than a plain ol’ bowl of water.

Bella Creature Comforts LLC Talk about a unique look! The Bella Bed, which coordinates with the Bella Binky pet blanket, is designed to prevent shifting and bunching and afford support along the pet’s entire musculoskeletal system. Our tester, who has a 3-year-old English bulldog named Trogdor and a 3-year-old mixed breed named Sasha, says her dogs enjoy cuddling up in the bed and take turns sleeping on it at night. “What I like about this product is its shape,” she says. “It’s very cozy and comforting for dogs, and the filler [made from recycled consumer product] is soft and supporting.” It is available in a variety of color combinations.

Fat Cat Inc. Fat Cat Inc. Wee Doggies, a line of beds, blankets and toys for small dogs, gets a round of applause from us for its fun and quirky products. The beds, available in sunflower, watermelon and pea-pod designs, radiate cheer, and the coordinating toys are entirely charming. Our tester, who’s a fan of “cute” products, snatched up the pea-pod bed not for a small dog but for her two cats! “I just had to have it,” she says. “It’s so soft, and very inviting.”

The Puppy Hugger The Super-Skinny Two’s Company Luxury Pet Bed offers a solution to the space-challenged owner who has two pets but doesn’t want two beds. Originally designed for dogs up to 18 pounds, we discovered that cats have a hankering for it, too. With separate cushioned areas for each pet, it is one of the most luxurious beds we’ve ever laid eyes on. Our tester says she wants one for herself. “It is sooooo soft,” she says. The rest of us couldn’t agree more.
