PetSafe Acquires Multivet InternationalRadio Systems Corp., owner of the PetSafe brand, reported on Nov. 24 that it has acquired the assets of Canada-based MultiVet International and the rights to manufacture and sell the MultiVet pet-product line.

Mike Taylor, director of training and containment products for PetSafe, said the acquisition would result in a broader offering for PetSafe’s customers and more choices for their pet-training needs.

MultiVet, located in Saint Hyancinthe, Quebec, Canada, produces an indoor/outdoor line of dog and cat spray training products, including anti-bark spray collars, remote-controlled spray training system, indoor and outdoor virtual-barrier systems and an automated, indoor motion-activated cat repellent.

PetSafe, based in Knoxville, Tenn., provides pet training, containment, safety and lifestyle products, such as electronic underground fences; bark-control systems; remote-training products; and pet-identification collars.

All MultiVet products and operations will be transferred to PetSafe’s Knoxville headquarters. PetSafe will remain the company’s flagship brand.

In other news, PetSafe is offering free Micro I.D. Rescue Collars from now until February 2009 to pet owners and pet-rescue organizations across the country. The collar comes equipped with a USB flash drive that stores a pet’s personalized information. Click here for more information.  <HOME>
