Pet Food Ltd. President Ken Chancey Dies

Ken Chancey, president of wholesale distributor Pet Food Ltd. in Tampa, Fla., died on Dec. 2. He was 53.

Chancey, a resident of Odessa, Fla., spent more than 35 years in the pet industry, mainly in the pet product distribution business. In addition to his private business endeavors, Chancey served on the Pet Industry Distributors Association’s board of directors and as the association’s president (1998-99).

Born in Jacksonville, Fla., Chancey loved football, especially the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, riding his Harley motorcycle, boating, skiing, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Chancey is preceded in death by his daughter, Trisha. He is survived by his wife, Sara; sons, Kenneth Jr. and Chad; daughter Brittany; grandchildren, Cole and Cate; mother, Peggy Elliot and her husband, Charles; sister, Cindy Farlow; brother, Curtis and nieces and nephews.

The family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit organization that aids severely injured service men and women.

A memorial service is scheduled for Dec. 11, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza East, 10221 Princess Palm Ave., Tampa, FL 33610. A block of rooms has been reserved. For more information, call the Crowne Plaza at 1-813-623-6363. <HOME>

Ken loved life and people. He lived it to the fullest setting us an example. He died doing one the the things he loved the most,, riding his bike. He may have finished the things on his "Bucket List", but I still had a few left on mine for him to help with. If tears would build a stairway to heaven I would run right up them and bring him back to us for a little while. Ken' I Love and Miss You So Much. Mom

Ken was not married at the time of his death, Sara was his daughter-in-law, His son Chad's wife.
