|Haute Hound Pet Boutique has entered the consignment business with its new K9 Consignment Corner.|
The Haute Hound Pet Boutique of Jupiter, Fla., has created a department for second-hand designer pet accessories. The K9 Consignment Corner offers gently-used, high-quality designer goods at up to 75 percent off the retail price.
“No one has ever marketed a consignment store to pets, but we feel there is a definite need for it,” said Kimberly Hall, the Haute Hound’s owner. “We look forward to giving every pet owner the opportunity to pamper his or her pet regardless of their income level. Our K9 Consignment Corner will allow us to do just that.”
The Haute Hound and consignor will split the sale price 50-50 after the item is sold. If the item does not sell after three months, the consignor will be able to take the item back or request that it be donated to local animal shelters.
Hall said she hopes the consignment section attracts new customers to her store who otherwise might have thought a pet boutique was out of their price range.
“They’ll find that it’s not only the consignment stuff that’s in their price range but some new stuff, too,” she said.
Hall also sees it as an opportunity for people to make a little extra cash during these tough economic times by selling their unwanted pet items.
“I figure it’s a win-win,” she said.
Since opening the section on Dec. 10, Hall said she has already received several items, including Juicy Couture carriers, Ruff Ruff Couture and other high-end accessories. Once she acquires more items, Hall plans to add a consignment section to Haute Hound’s online shop.
So far, Hall said she is encouraged by the positive feedback she has received.
“It’s one other thing I can do to keep my business going, and hopefully it will be received very well,” she said. <HOME>
