The Winn Feline Foundation has chosen 16 projects out of 50 proposals for 2010 from veterinary researchers around the world who are interested in improving feline health. A team of expert veterinary consultants helped the foundation select the top projects, for a record-breaking total of $183,391 in funding.
The foundation said it looks forward to seeing the results of these projects and sharing them with the veterinary community as well as with cat owners and pedigreed cat breeders. The researchers will cover a wide range of feline health issues, including Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), feline infectious peritonitis virus (FIPV), health concerns of dominant traits in domestic cats, oral squamous cell carcinoma, and cats with diabetes mellitus and hepatic lipidosis. <HOME>
