Pet Valu Canada Acquires Bosley’s Pet Food Plus
Pet Valu Canada Inc. of Markham, Ontario, has acquired pet specialty retailer and wholesaler Bosley’s Pet Food Plus Inc. of British Columbia, Canada, for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition provides Pet Valu, which operates pet stores primarily in the provinces of Ontario and Manitoba, a platform for growth in western Canada.
“Bosley’s is a strategic acquisition for Pet Valu, demonstrating its commitment to the specialty channel and to the highest quality holistic and organic products available while helping it build its presence in western Canada,” said Ezra Field, managing director of Roark Capital Group, which owns Pet Valu. “It also illustrates Roark’s strategy of supporting portfolio companies’ growth plans through acquisition and reinvestment.”
Bosley’s has 23 stores in and around Vancouver, British Columbia. The company specializes in holistic and specialty brands. As part of the deal, Bosley’s will retain its brand name.
“Bosley’s is a well-known, respected brand in western Canada that shares Pet Valu’s commitment to providing its customers with the highest quality pet products and unmatched customer service,” Pet Valu CEO Tom McNeely said. “We are excited to help carry on its legacy and further grow the brand.”
The Bosley deal comes less than a year after Pet Valu was acquired by Roark, which is based in Atlanta. At that time, the private equity firm said it was eager to work with Pet Valu’s management to grow the company. Pet Valu has more than 300 corporately owned and franchise stores throughout North America and also operates as a pet supply distributor. <HOME>
