Beneful brand dog food is once again asking dog owners: If you had $500,000 to spend to create the ultimate dream dog park, what would you do?
The second Dream Dog Park Contest invites dog owners to submit their big ideas for a dog park. One grand prize winner’s idea will serve as inspiration for a half-million dollar makeover of a dog park in his or her community.
“I’m thrilled to be part of a contest that lets dog owners dream about ways to spend even more quality time with their four-legged friends,” said Jason Cameron, TV personality and the contest’s head designer. “I was amazed by the creative ideas dog owners dreamed up for last year’s contest and can’t wait to see what they come up with this year.”
To enter, dog owners can log onto the dream dog park website and submit a 250-word or less essay describing how they would use $500,000 to create the dog park of their dreams. Entrants must also include a photo of themselves with their dog showing how life is better when they are together. The deadline to enter is Tuesday, June 21, 2011.
The Beneful Dream Team judges’ panel, which includes Cameron and author Arden Moore, will select the grand prize winner out of a pool of 20 finalists.
In addition to having his or her idea serve as inspiration for the $500,000 dog park makeover, the grand prize winner will receive a $10,000 cash award and a year’s supply of Beneful brand dog food. Nineteen runners-up will each receive a year’s supply of Beneful food.
The newly renovated dog park is expected to be unveiled in the spring of 2012. In the meantime, dog lovers will be able to check out the first Beneful Dream Dog Park in Johns Creek, Ga. The unveiling of that dog park is expected to take place on Wednesday, June 15, 2011. The $500,000 renovation was inspired by last year’s grand prize winner, Johns Creek resident Pat McNeely and his Siberian husky.
“Once dog owners across the country get a look at the inaugural Dream Dog Park in Johns Creek, Ga., complete with a giant bone-shaped ramp with tunnels and water splash pads, they will be even more motivated to enter this year’s contest,” said Ken Wilhelm, Beneful brand director.
