Petmate, an Arlington, Texas-based manufacturer of pet kennels, bedding, feeders and other accessories, reported today that it has acquired the products and intellectual property rights of Kennel-Aire LLC of Ottawa, Kan.
Kennel-Aire manufactures and distributes wire crates, carriers and other accessories for the pet containment, training and travel markets. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Kennel-Aire products are a valuable addition to Petmate’s already established and reputable line of carriers and kennels,” said Petmate CEO Joe Messner. “We are excited about the Kennel-Aire acquisition and look forward to additional growth opportunities it will bring for Petmate and our retail partners.”

The acquisition includes products, equipment, intellectual property and working capital. Petmate expects to continue to design, develop and market the products under the Kennel-Aire and Remington brand names.
“Kennel-Aire has a long history of providing quality products that meet the changing needs of consumers,” said Mike Powers, Kennel-Aire president and CEO. “We are thrilled that this tradition will continue and our products and brands can continue to grow under the thoughtful guidance of the management at Petmate.”
Over the next 60 days, Petmate plans to move Kennel-Aire’s product inventory, manufacturing operations and associated distribution processes to its facilities in Arlington. In the interim, Kennel-Aire will continue to manage all of the distribution activities for the product lines. In addition, Kennel-Aire’s vice president of sales and marketing Bob Tyley has signed on to work with Petmate for at least three months, Messner said.
