The Savannah Cat Shoppe Opens Second Location in San Diego Area

A Southern California pet shop devoted exclusively to the exotic Savannah cat reported today that it has opened a second location.

The new Savannah Cat Shoppe, located in Del Mar, Calif., is about 1,000 square feet. Visitors can view Savannah kittens and proprietor/operator Frank Hopperton’s large one-year-old F1 Savannah.

Mishka, a one-year-old F1 Savannah, is the resident cat at The Savannah Cat Shoppe’s new San Diego-area location.

The kittens all come from The Savannah Cattery and live at the store in a habitat that takes up about a third of the space, Hopperton said. Similar to the original The Savannah Cat Shoppe in Rancho Cucamonga, Del Mar customers can purchase a Savannah kitten directly from the store. 
 
“The cats are absolutely extraordinary and worth every penny,” Hopperton said. “Their exotic looks and dog-like temperament make them a perfect pet, even for the most discerning dog lovers.”

 In addition to the cats, the store will sell some cat supplies, including cat food, litter and accessories.

A grand opening celebration is slated for later next month at a date yet to be determined. Scarlett’s Magic, who reigns as Guinness Book’s “World’s Tallest Domestic Cat,” will be at the Del Mar store on Saturday, Oct. 1.
