As president of the American Pet Product Association, Bob Vetere is no stranger to leadership or pets. So it might come as no surprise that those are the subjects at the center of his new book due out in time for the holiday season.
|APPA president Bob Vetere's book From Wags to Riches is due out in December.|
From Wags to Riches: How Dogs Teach Us to Succeed in Business & Life, written by Vetere with Valerie Andrews, explains how man’s best friend can teach his human counterpart to build stronger, more collaborative organizations. Having studied the human-animal bond with Purdue University researchers, Vetere demonstrates that canine-like qualities, such as sharing responsibility among pack members and tuning into each other’s needs and emotions by observing facial expressions and body cues, can dramatically improve a person’s effectiveness and ability to lead.
The book also includes a leadership quiz, which helps readers identify the type of dog—terrier, golden retriever, border collie, rottweiler, husky, poodle or bloodhound—their leadership style resembles. Vetere provides examples of famous CEOs and executives for each type and advises readers on their strengths and weaknesses of each style.
From Wags to Riches is slated to hit store shelves in December. It features a foreword by Dr. Marty Becker of ABC’s “Good Morning America” and is endorsed by Animal Planet’s Victoria Stillwell, according to publisher BenBella Books Inc.<HOME>
