For the second time in two years, the Epworth, Ga.-based National Association of Pond Professionals (NAPP) has canceled its scheduled annual conference and trade show.
Although representatives of NAPP were not immediately available to confirm the cancellation, the organization began contacting some individuals in early February to inform them that the event had been cancelled due to poor attendee registration.
The decision to cancel this year’s event, which had been scheduled to take place Feb. 26 to 28 in Las Vegas, was apparently made during a conference call with NAPP board members, with the determination being made that the projected attendance was insufficient to justify exhibitors’ time and expense to participate.
The organization also will be refunding registration fees but it is unclear whether it will cover travel costs incurred by would-be attendees (for example, for non-refundable airline tickets).
After a promising 2010 event in Stone Mountain, Ga., NAPP canceled last year’s event due to a scheduling snafu with the host property. It later rescheduled the event with the expectation of making it a biannual event unless members wanted it to become annual.
