The Nutro Co. of Franklin, Tenn., launched today the third year of its “Room To Run” program to support and enhance dog parks.
For 2012, the company plans to issue 30 $2,000 grants to dog parks in need of general repairs and maintenance, installation of new agility equipment, landscaping, updates to water systems, or creation of a poop bag center. Grants will be awarded on a rolling basis through October 2012
Country singer Sara Evans, whose songs include “Born to Fly” and “A Little Bit Stronger,” encouraged dog owners to get involved in the Nutro “Room to Run” program.
“Enhancing dog parks is a natural fit for The Nutro Company, as we’ve had a long-standing commitment to promote a healthy lifestyle for pets by producing natural pet food for more than 80 years,” said Kent Cunningham, vice president of marketing for Nutro. “Many of us use our own local dog parks as a place to interact and bond with our dogs, so we’re excited to take ‘Room To Run’ to the next level by encouraging community members to take action and apply for grant support to help enhance their local parks.”
The company and celebrity spokesperson Sara Evans encouraged dog owners to apply for grant support for their local dog parks here by Sept. 30, 2012.
Grant applications should demonstrate the enhancement needs and confirm that park officials are willing and able to make enhancements within six months and post a commemorative placard provided by Nutro for at least one year.
In 2011 and 2010, when “Room To Run” launched, the program focused on donating time to help spruce up local dog parks. Nutro estimates the “Room To Run” program committed more than 3,000 hours to enhance 60 dog parks across the United States.<HOME>
