Pet Boarding Chain Kicks Off 'Pets-idential' Campaign

Posted: Oct. 3, 2012, 3:05 p.m. EDT

Best Friends Pet Care Inc. of Norwalk, Conn., is accepting votes through Oct. 31, 2012, for the “Pets-idential” election of a canine in chief and four runners-up: vice canine in chief, secretary of play time, treasurer of treats and director of pet pampering.

Pet owners may upload a patriotic photo of their candidate and the animal’s campaign promise, such as “A Couch for Every Canine” or “A Treat in Every Mouth,” on Best Friends’ Facebook page.

Voters will elect five dogs in a Best Friends Pet Care contest.
Winners will be chosen by popular vote and announced Nov. 1, 2012.

The top dog will receive up to $250 a month in boarding or day camp credit at any Best Friends Pet Care location for one year. The runners-up will get a Play and Stay weekend pass.

“We expect a positive race,” Renee Coughlin, vice president of marketing for Best Friends, remarked. “No dirty tricks or mudslinging will be permitted, although dirty and muddy dogs are welcome to run.”

The chain offers boarding, day care, grooming and training at 42 pet care centers from Massachusetts to California.
