The Natural Products Association MarketPlace trade show, scheduled for June 27 to 29, 2013, in Las Vegas, was suspended today as the organizers reassess its future.
No specific reason was given for the decision, which came six months before the show was set to open. The association's website showed commitments from 86 exhibitors, including nine in the pet industry.
About 5,000 people and 219 exhibitors attended the 2012 event, which showcased food, supplements, health and beauty products, and herbs and medicinals for the human and animal markets.
The trade show is a joint production of New Hope Natural Media and the Washington, D.C.-based Natural Products Association. New Hope, a division of Penton Media Inc., is a publisher and media resource for the natural, organic and health products industry.

“We plan to shift our emphasis to further develop our partnership with the Natural Products Association,” said Fred Linder, president of New Hope Natural Media. “This shift will create new opportunities for the natural products
industry, surrounding our trade shows.”
The partnership began in 2008.
“The Natural Products Association appreciates the work we’ve done with New Hope throughout the years,” said John Shaw, the association’s executive director and CEO. “While it is unfortunate the show won’t go on, we understand the business reasons behind it. NPA has always sought to connect retailers and suppliers in the marketplace. We are committed to this goal and our work with New Hope to achieve it.
“NPA looks forward to new developments within this relationship in 2013 and beyond,” Shaw added.
New Hope Natural Media also produces Natural Products Expo
West, scheduled for March 7 to 10, 2013, in Anaheim, Calif., and Natural Products Expo East, which is planned for September 2013 in Baltimore.
Among the companies scheduled to exhibit in June were Nature’s Best of Brea, Calif.; Membrell LLC of Carthage, Mo.; and Nordic Naturals
of Watsonville, Calif.<HOME>
