The third annual meeting, hosted by the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council, will take place April 23 and 24 in Amelia Island, Fla.
"Secretary Mineta will share his vast experience on what business executives can do to ensure their views are properly represented in the government decision-making process,” PIJAC president and CEO Mike Canning said today.

"With his years of public sector involvement at every level of government
, Mineta’s keynote session will greatly benefit the entire pet industry,” Canning said.
Mineta’s keynote session will focus on what works and doesn’t work when industries engage on public policy. He also will discuss the messages that lawmakers find persuasive and how best to make a compelling case, PIJAC added.
His government career began in San Jose
, Calif., where Mineta served on the City Council and as mayor.
After working 20 years as a U.S. congressman, Mineta was appointed Secretary of Commerce in 2000 by President Clinton. President George W. Bush appointed him Secretary of Transportation in 2001, and he resigned in 2006.
