Industry giant PetSmart is planning a week’s worth of special deals both online and at its 1,300 stores to launch the holiday shopping season.
Starting four days before Black Friday, which falls on Nov. 29, the retailer reported that it will offer three days of in-store and online specials.
On Thanksgiving Day, beginning at 6 a.m. EST, the PetSmart website will feature Black Friday deals accompanied by free shipping and no minimum purchase required.
PetSmart employs 52,000 people in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
The next day, Black Friday, most stores will open at 7 a.m. The first 100 customers will receive a stocking filled with $130 worth of coupons as well as dog and cat treats.
One in four pet owners surveyed by PetSmart said they would shop for their pet on Black Friday, PetSmart
CEO David Lenhardt said.
"Overall, we know that about 76 percent of pet parents plan to give their pet a special treat or present for the holidays
, and more than half plan to get their pet a holiday stocking,” Lenhardt said.
In all, Phoenix-based PetSmart
expects to offer 50 percent off more than 3,200 items.
The deals extend to grooming as well, with all Pawdicure services priced at 50 percent off during the Black Friday weekend.
