Ohio manufacturer Coastal Pet Products this week reported donating more than 100 Safari Shed Magic grooming tools to a local rescue organization, the Stark County Humane Society, which has acted as a test center for the company’s products.
The newest Safari Shed Magic De-Shedding Tool, which is designed to remove loose hair, mats and tangles without skin irritation, was tested on dogs and cats staying at the shelter.
"The shelter provided a perfect setting for Coastal to efficiently groom many different dogs and cats with various coat types with many different Shed Magic tool variations in a short period of time,” product and program developer Mark Weber said.

"The staff at the Humane Society was very helpful,” Weber said. "We told them what coat types we wanted to test the tool on, and they quickly brought dogs and cats to an area one by one for us to groom.”
Many prototypes were tested before the final models were produced, Weber added.
Stark County Humane Society cares for as many as 300 animals at a time.
"This donation is a blessing,” said the shelter’s general manager, Eddie Sells. "We are always in need of cat litter, cat and dog food ... bowls and various pet supplies.”
