Women in the Pet Industry Network, or WIPIN, a Portland, Ore.-based network for women in the pet industry, issued a clarion call for a few good women.
WIPIN wants those in its ranks as well as non-members who are part of the pet industry to nominate themselves or other women who they believe exemplify the pet industry’s best.
The winners of the second Pet Industry Women of the Year Awards will be announced at WIPIN’s All About Growth Conference and Awards Show on Aug. 15, 2014, in Portland, Ore.
"The Awards are a celebration of women who have devoted their lives to the pet industry and shine as beacons of women helping women and pets with passion,” said Shawna Schuh, president of WIPIN.
Jane Harrell, with Petfinder.com at the time, accepts WIPIN’s Rising Star Award in 2013. Shortly thereafter, Harrell moved to Idexx Laboratories, where she is editor-in-chief of PetHealthNetwork.com and head of consumer communications.
Award categories include Solopreneur, Entrepreneur, Corporation, Advocate and Rising Star.
From the nominees, five finalists will be named in each category, five category winners and one overall Pet Industry Woman of The Year will be chosen from the 25 finalists.
The Pet Industry Woman of the Year will receive a full year of media and executive coaching, a feature in Pet Age magazine, a cover photo on WIPIN Top Women in the Pet Industry Fall Magazine and other perks.
Nominations will be accepted through June 27, 2014 at WomenInThePetIndustry.com/NominateNow/.
