Citing increased demand, the World Pet Association (WPA), the organization behind SuperZoo national show for pet retailers, carved out more than 200 additional exhibitor booths from the Mandalay Bay Convention Center show floor for SuperZoo 2015.
This is good news for exhibitors who were left on the outside looking in for this year’s show.
Despite the news, exhibitors may want to register early, given that exhibit space for 2014 was sold out by March—four months before the event.
Those exhibiting at SuperZoo 2014 get first dibs for 2015 and can preregister prior to the opening of the 2014 show; others can submit an application for the following year during the current show.
After the record-setting 2013 SuperZoo, several exhibitors purchased more booth space for 2014, said Doug Poindexter, president of the Monrovia, Calif.-based WPA.
"Based on SuperZoo 2014 preregistration numbers show a substantial increase of buyers; we believe an expansion of the show floor is warranted,” Poindexter said.
As a result, the WPA reassessed the 2015 floor plan, creating a couple hundred more exhibit spaces in the process. Tentatively, 2,171 booths will be offered in 2015 compared with the 1,925 spaces sold for this year’s show—almost 250 more spaces.
The almost 13 percent more exhibit space was found by relocating SuperZoo University education sessions to meeting rooms to offer more concentrated programming and eliminate some of the show floor distractions, Poindexter said.
The New Product Showcase also will have a new location.
"By moving this feature of the show we hope to offer attendees an enhanced experience while giving exhibitors’ products more time in front of buyers,” Poindexter added.
With the added booths, SuperZoo 2015 may eclipse the record of 985 exhibitors set in 2013.
