Petmate Unveils Jackson Galaxy Collection; Other New Products

With more than 175 products, which include pet toys, kennels, carriers, auto-feeding and -watering units, collars and leashes, and other gear for dogs, cats and birds, on display at SuperZoo, it would seem that Petmate brought its entire product catalog to Las Vegas.

In addition, the Arlington, Texas-based pet gear manufacturer debuted more than 25 new products, including the new co-branded Jackson Galaxy Collection by Petmate, a line of cat toys developed with input from Jackson Galaxy of Animal Planet’s "My Cat From Hell” TV series.

The Jackson Galaxy Collection will be available to pet owners through pet retailers starting this fall.

"The Jackson Galaxy Collection by Petmate is changing the cat play category by incorporating real-world understanding of cats and their natural instincts,” said Alice Tillett, Petmate’s CEO.

For nighttime play options, Petmate has created LightPlay versions of nine of its Chuckit! dog toys, like this Max Glow Ball.

The line of cat wands, toys, scratchers, tunnels and tents tap into a cat’s natural behaviors: hunt, catch, kill, eat, groom and sleep.

"The line provides the tools and building blocks for pet families to create the ideal cat play experience for a wide variety of feline personalities, and it caters to the prey-and-play cat lifestyle,” Tillett added.

The Jackson Galaxy line features 25 new products, including Cat Dice, Motor Mouse and the Go Fish puzzle toy.

More than 150 guests attended a Petmate cocktail reception on July 22 at SuperZoo to kick off the Jackson Galaxy collection.

During the reception, Galaxy was on hand to help debut his new line of cat toys.

"Interactive play keeps cats in homes,” Galaxy said.

"Playing with your cat is not a luxury,” he added, "it’s a necessity.”

The reception included a raffle with the winner’s favorite cat charity, the Omaha (Neb.) Humane Society, receiving a $1,000 cat care package.

Some of the other new products Petmate unveiled at SuperZoo were:

·      Jackson Galaxy Mojo Maker—a telescoping wand and interchangeable cat toy available in Ground and Air Prey models;

·      Jackson Galaxy Twisted Kicker—a catnip toy;

·      Petmate Fresh Flow—an updated version of Petmate’s popular waterer;

·      Aspen Pet Cool Flow—an automatic waterer;

·      Petmate Holiday Heggies—now these plush dog toys are available in three Christmas designs: Reindeer Heggie, Snowman Heggie and Santa Heggie;

·      and Petmate Poly-Wicker Bedding—poly-rattan bedding available in three sizes.

Another exciting product introduction is LightPlay toys, which are the nighttime versions of nine popular Chuckit! toys.

The LightPlay Max Glow Ball can be placed under a bright light for five to 10 minutes, and it glows for up to 30 minutes.

"The LightPlay line caters to the ‘start early, play late’ lifestyle so many pet parents are taking due to work and family commitments,” Tillett said.

LightPlay products will be available at pet specialty stores in the fall.
