Green Fashions to Fund Animal Shelter

Posted Friday, May 9, 2008, 2:06 p.m., EST

Organizers of Pet Fashion Week NY (Aug. 23-24) plan to raise funds for The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals with its ECOuture efforts before and during the show.

The campaign’s events will emphasize “innovative, eco-friendly pet products,” organizers reported. The highlight of the campaign will be the ECouture runway presentation that will feature one-of-kind pieces designed expressly for the event by participating designers using ecologically friendly materials. The presentation will kick off the PFW Buyer Runway Show on Saturday evening.

Tickets for the event will be $75 ($25 of which will go to the charity) and will include the entire runway show. Attendees will also be served cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while viewing displays of pet products, organizers reported. The event is restricted to pet industry professionals and the media.

Organizers are also seeking product donations from companies which it will give to The Mayor’s Alliance, which in turn will be distributed to area animal shelters. The shelters, in turn, would sell the donated items, either through direct sales or through silent auctions and raffles, to raise money.

Companies donating at least $1,000 worth of products will have their names listed in the charity section of the event’s website, their names listed on four “partner” boards displayed at Pet Fashion Week venues, and other acknowledgements.

Online registration for Pet Fashion Week NY will also solicit donations for the charity. <HOME>
