Hagen Will Sponsor Amphibian Conference This Summer

Rolf C. Hagen’s Exo Terra division is sponsoring the North American Amphibian Conference June 6 to June 8.
Rolf C. Hagen’s Exo Terra division is sponsoring the North American Amphibian Conference (NAAC), June 6 to June 8 at the French King Conference Center in Erving, Mass.

Hagen said the sponsorship is particularly timely given that 2008 was dubbed the “Year of the Frog” by the Amphibian Ark, part of the World Conservation Union, to raise awareness of the issues threatening the world’s amphibian population and mobilize action initiatives.

“NAAC is a very important part of our efforts, particularly in light of the threats that amphibians are facing in terms of habitat erosion and the spread of chytrid,” said Jeff San Souci, director of marketing for Hagen USA. “Hagen is committed to helping make a difference during 2008, the Year of the Frog.”

The conference includes lectures, workshops, field trips, a raffle and auction, as well as a fundraising banquet. Keynote speaker Chris van der Lingen of the Netherlands will debut an English version of his DVD on the dart frog.

The event will raise money for frog and amphibian protection projects and organizations including the Panama Pumilio Protection Project, the ABG Amphibian Conservation Project, the Costa Rica Amphibian Research Center, Tree Walkers International, Amphibian Ark and the Cryptobranchild International Group.
