The rankings take into account the quality of dog-friendly accommodations, transportation, beaches, parks, attractions, stores, dining and activities for dogs.

The list includes:

Honorable mention went to Dallas; Madison, Wisc.; Wisconsin Dells, Wisc.; Minneapolis, Minn.; St. Paul, Minn.; Salt Lake City; and Seattle.
